No Such Thing as a Good or Bad Baby
I don’t think we realize when we ask if they’re a good baby, we’re also asking if they’re a bad baby. I think it also implies that you are a good or bad parent. No one is inherently “good” or “bad” we’re complex humans with complex emotions. Babies are living in the present. They change from one state to another quickly and that can be confusing and distressing for parents to figure out. They will be happy and engaged one minute then switch to disengaged, tired, hungry, lonely, uncomfortable, and back again. It’s enough to just be present with them. As you get to know their cues and likes and dislikes, you will be building a sense of security for your baby. You are enough for your baby.
